Global warming and the protection of our environment require a clear commitment to reducing CO2. No mode of transport is as climate-friendly as the railroads. The government in Germany has therefore determined that the railroads should be massively expanded. Passenger numbers are to double, and disused lines are to be reactivated. For many years or even decades, a job in track construction is a secure job with prospects.
